Pantheon will not require customers to upgrade from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8 on the EOL date, Nov. 28th, 2022.
On Nov. 28, the community-supported version of PHP 7.4 will reach End of Life (EOL) status, meaning the team of PHP developers who regularly maintain the coding language in stable version releases will no longer provide bug fixes, security patches or critical security updates.
We encourage customers to upgrade their sites to PHP 8 after 7.4 officially goes EOL (or sooner!), but it will continue to be available on the platform. There will be no forced upgrades to PHP 8 for the foreseeable future.
Pantheon recommends keeping your PHP version as up-to-date as possible for many reasons, including better security, faster websites and new features and improvements.
