How can I set up DNS for a v2 site? I don't really understand too much about DNS so forgive me if this is a newbie question.
I've already paid and you charged my credit card, so the site should be ready to go live. (Note that it will actually probably take me a month before I'm ready to launch, so this request isn't terribly urgent.)
According to the Wiki below, live support for v2 sites was going to happen around mid November of last year:
https://wiki.getpantheon.com/display/...
I had originally set my DNS record like this:
@ edge.live.getpantheon.com. CNAME 1800
This worked but broke Google Apps, which I was using for e-mail. When I e-mailed Namecheap, they told me that I could use a 301 redirect to www for the @ record; however, I want my address to appear as domain.com, not www.domain.com.
To do this, they then suggested that I use an A record, but this requires an IP address-- the edge.live.getpantheon.com. URL does not work.
What settings should I use to point my site to Pantheon, using domain.com not www.domain.com, and without breaking Google Apps?
Many thanks,
Patrick

I am also running into this issue. Are there IPs we can use instead of the CNAME?

1If you absolutely require an IP you can use the IP of the edge router and it will work.
However, this address may change at a future date which would require preparation and an update to your DNS configuration. We would provide advance warning if this ever becomes necessary.
We will be offering both static IPs and fully-managed DNS as add-on services in the near future.-
Can you tell us how to find the proper IP--this is a fairly general issue which impacts our site as well.
Thanks! -

The proper IP if you must use it is the ip for edge.live.getpantheon.com. You can find this however you normally look into a domain/ip association.

Ok, thank you. I'll use the IP address for now and look forward to your future add-on services.

We are specifically not able to list cname's for the main domain within our dns cp so I've been forced to put in an ip for the edge router. Please do ensure we get plenty of notice if the IP is likely to change?

Yes, we will provide plenty of notice if this ever needs to change.

Hi Josh,
Is there a best practise method of doing 301 redirects for non www to www? -
-
There is! The best way is to handle it in settings.php:
http://help.getpantheon.com/pantheon/...
I believe there are also some modules that handle this as well. -

Noted thanks. I also downloaded the .htaccess file and put it in there and git pushed it back which I wan't sure which kicked in the .htaccess or the settings base_url.
Thanks :)-
Since we use Nginx, your htaccess file is not going to help or hurt. ;)
